02:43 pm - Potter Stinks Suggestion to filmmakers: If you decide to adapt a popular novel for the screen, and you decide to chop a good portion of the plot of the book, please have the decency to not make shit up to fill the interim.
Also, Slughorn sucked.
I'm not trying to be that frothing nerd who holds source material as some sacred text, but fuck. If I wanted Harry Potter fan fiction, I could have saved ten bucks.

09:15 am Two games yesterday:
Fate/Unlimited Codes Portable: Probably the best looking, funnest PSP fighter to date. Though I could just be biased because it's Type-Moon stuff. Honestly, the analog stump is as worthless as usual, and the PSP version just makes me want the PS2 version even more so I can use an arcade sick. But, for what it is, it's excellent. I can't wait for the English version.
Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 1: Everything I expected and more. Fuzzy sound and inventory management issues are my only complaints, and even those were quickly ignored in the face of everything else that the game just nailed. Worth every penny so far, and chapter 2 isn't even out for another month.

Can't say I was expecting that.
Online, guessing MMO. Actually, guessing it's Rapture. PS3 exclusive.
Awesome. :O

05:06 am - E3! E3! E3! E3!
I still can't help but get a little excited every year. Sure, the past couple of years have been kinda lame. Last year especially. But this year will be awesome. I can feel it in my thumbs.
Also, for those who have not read it yet, destructiod has consulted a psychic about this year's E3 with hilarious and shocking results.

02:07 am - Classified Information. After years of waiting and months of speculation, it has become clear that the second season of Haruhi is, in fact, airing alongside the currently airing rerun of the first season.
Kodansha has marketed this in the most dick backwards way possible: a complete gag order. The only way anyone knew that the new stuff was coming is through a series of leaks that were immediately retracted, followed by the recent airing of the first new episode.
Cute, considering the content of the new episodes to be aired (as well as the nature of the property), but altogether frustrating.
I really hope that maybe this means that the tenth novel in the series is coming soon, too. After so long, it's going to take more than a little nudge to get Haruhi fandom rolling like it was a few years ago.
Anyway, I'm over-geeking my journal. I have new Haruhi to watch.

Please do yourself a favor and purchase The Collected Stories of Amy Hempel.
If you enjoy minimalist fiction (Chuck Palahniuk, et al), these stories will floor you. If you aren't too into minimalism or don't know much about it, I guarantee you'll still feel the desired result. This is not minimalism for minimalism's sake, this is the product of masterful precision.
Bonus: It's super cheap right now. You have no excuse not to.

09:10 am Sorry, but I'm going to have to go with Reznor on this one: Chris Cornell's new album is garbage.
On the plus side, it almost guarantees a Soundgarden reunion, because that's the only way he'll be able to play music in public again.
